 PRINTING

Q: Do you offer rounded corners?
A: Yes, we can provide rounded corners for an additional $15 per set of 250 cards. *This service is only available for business cards.

Q: Is white considered a printing color?
A: Not typically. Because white is the default color of paper is white, it is simply recognized as the absence of any ink. However, when using colored paper, white ink may be used if any text or graphic requires it.

Q: What is the difference between RGB and CMYK color? Is it Important?
A:
RGB stands for Red, Green, and Blue. This scale is most commonly used in monitors, televisions, scanners, and digital cameras. CMYK is cyan, magenta, yellow, and black – “full-color printing”. When you combine all RGB light it creates white, whereas CMYK creates black. Subsequently, it is impossible for a printer to exactly reproduce a color that we see on our monitors. If possible, we recommend converting images or graphics in RGB to CMYK yourself, so you can adjust any changes before files are given to us.

Q: Why do the printed colors look different from the colors on my screen?
A: In short, printers and monitors produce colors in very different ways. Monitors use the RGB (red, green, blue) color model, which usually supports a wider spectrum of colors. Printers use the CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) color model, which can reproduce most—but not all—of the colors in the RGB color model. Depending on the equipment used, CMYK generally matches 85–90% of the colors in the RGB model.

When a color is selected from the RGB model that is out of the range of the CMYK model, the application chooses what it thinks is the closest color that will match. Programs like Adobe Photoshop will allow you to choose which color will be replaced. Others may not.

When color is critical it is best to allow extra time test prints and color adjustments.

Q: Why do colors differ when using offset printing versus digital printing?
A: Because the ink and toner mediums are different, the printed piece may have a slightly different result. Even though both types of printing use CMYK, the rasterization processes are different, which cause variations in color. In addition, if the file contains RGB elements, the different methods will produce varying results.

Q: What is variable data printing?
A: Variable data printing is technology for printing documents so that each piece is personalized to the specific recipient. At the most basic level, this means personalizing a name and address. But for real impact, many projects include unique graphics and content that speaks directly to the recipient.

Q: What is the most common size for business cards?
A: The standard dimensions of a printed business card are 3.5 x 2 inches. That's the finished card size. Many printed designs include bleed. The "bleed area" is an extra 1/8 inch of space for design elements or backgrounds that extend beyond the finished edges of your card. You can check out some of our products on our website.

SHIPPING
